Wrist arthroscopy instruments in the operating room — the minimally invasive technique practised at the Diaconat-Roosevelt International Wrist Center

The Diaconat-Roosevelt clinic recognised as an International Wrist Center

Since early 2025, the hand surgery unit at the Diaconat-Roosevelt clinic in Mulhouse has been designated an International Wrist Center (IWC). It becomes the fifth French institution to receive this recognition, awarded by the international peers of the IWC network.

Dr Chihab Taleb, upper limb surgeon, serves as the referent surgeon to the IWC for this center. Together with his colleague Dr Thomas Zappaterra, he carries this internationally recognised expertise, focused on the management of degenerative and post-traumatic wrist conditions.

This distinction rewards a long-standing practice: the Diaconat hand surgery unit, a member of the SOS Main network since 1988, covers a wide catchment area stretching from Belfort to Sélestat. It relies in particular on wrist arthroscopy — a minimally invasive technique that, through small incisions and under video control, allows many ligament and joint injuries to be diagnosed and treated while limiting the impact of surgery on the patient.

Beyond patient care, the IWC recognition also reflects the center's commitment to teaching and research: it continues to work closely with physiotherapists and sports physicians, as part of a coordinated approach to wrist care.
